不是偶, 是偶lg. 已经第5 年快结束了, 也发了paper, 可以毕业 . 但老板的意思, 是再呆一年. lg 也有一个project, 想做完再走.
大家说5年毕业在原来实验室呆一年, 和6年毕业? 各有什么好处, 和坏处.
lg 是打算干脆明年再毕业, 然后换个实验室做postdoc, 这样据说将来申请funding 什么的容易些, 因为是fresh postdoc.
但今年毕业, 感觉上好些 (偶的感觉). 而且, 可以让老板多pay 点... ...
是不是早点儿毕业心里踏实点儿? 还可以申请绿卡什么的
If you LG has not found a descent job, and/or he want to keep good relationship with the professor (does he has an interest in Academic? ), he can stay.
Or he can do job hunting while being on the project in the extended one year period.
Personally I think doing one year post doc is better than doing the PHD for another year. Post doc will be counted as his working experience and he should earn more.

这个是偶的想法.
偶lg 更愿意明年再毕业, 因为可以省掉不少麻烦, 而且他好象不好意思急着毕业, 然后让老板多pay 他 (偶对这个倒没什么意见, 其实差不了多少钱). 而且他现在铁了心想当postdoc, 将来找faculty 位置. 所以, 好象多出paper, 比毕业年限更重要.
其实, 不管他做什么决定, 偶都是全力支持的. 虽然偶心里还是有点希望他尽快毕业的.

looking for a good postdoc also takes time.
how about his thesis? has he finish writing? if not, that can take at least 2 months.
i think there is no difference between a 6-year ph.D and a 5-year ph.D
+ 1-year postdoc, i will personally prefer the 6-year ph.D just because
it sounds simple.
原来是MM的帖子，呵呵，才意识到
最近很多人答辩, 所以有点感想. 其实, 对他毕业之类的事情, 偶一般不参与意见的, 他自己全权处理的.
