Despite the drama surrounding Pelosi''s visit to Taiwan, cooler heads like Kevin Rudd, former Australian prime minister and a Chinese speaker, do not think the visit will benefit anyone including Taiwan itself.

Her visit will benefit herself and no one else. Well, should we expect anything more from a life-long, seasoned career politician such as Ms. Pelosi?

The only crowds in the U.S. and elsewhere that are delighted are the China-haters - let''s be frank, many of them racists or ideologues, against either the Chinese race, its nation or its culture - who are ecstatic at every opportunity when China is seemingly humiliated or defeated.

While I am not a fan of the Chinese Communist Party, just like I am no fan of the US Democratic or Republican parties, as a Chinese and an American, I oppose the US foreign policy of endlessly meddling around the world. In this century alone, it was the 20-year Middle Eastern wars first, now war in Russia/the Ukraine, and in the future China/Taiwan.

How can it be in the interest of the United States of America to antagonize both Russia, a former superpower with enormous natural resources and nuclear stockpiles, and China, a rising superpower? Do those in power in Washington really think it a good idea to fight one war against Russia in Europe, followed by another against China in Asia - so basically a WWIII, bringing humanity once again close to Armageddon?
