Did you mean "library and information science" - I just graduated from a doctoral program and found a job as a faculty member at another program. While i was a doctoral study, we had some master students from China and they all ended up pretty well. I think the most important thing is that you have a bachelor degree in a different subject area, and while in the master program, intern as much as you can.
