IT背景的MBA

看到不少读MBA是IT的背景，想和大家讨论一下以后的方向。
首先不会再去做developer了，也好多年没碰code了。
最后学期在一个不错的公司做了个part-time的IT project specialist，有兴趣在project management发展，可以选择project coordinator, project control, project manager，这类工作有很多的administration方面的工作，soft skills要求很高，一般都在大公司。还可以去考一下pmp的证书。
还有一个方向是business analyst，有一类ba叫做solution specialist，类似于account manager，大部分时间在clients site，communication skills很重要，会有小部分sales的工作，我比较喜欢和各行各业的人打交道，相对于project management中很多的administration工作，我比较喜欢这个，一般会在小公司，再发展下去可以做senior business solution analyst。
大家觉得还有哪些适合business的IT guy?
做PROJECT MANAGER什么的不需要MBA, 觉得学完MBA再去做这个有点浪费了.
见到作ACCT MGR的人, 很多也没有MBA, 有个女孩甚至之前是BANK TELLER转去作IT公司的ACCT MGR, 他们很多只是工作年头久一些, 人比较精明能干.

It seems to me that if you are not going technical, then communication skill is the #1 priority. A MBA degress is not gonna be as helpful unless you want to change your career path completely to the business world. ALso a part time MBA is said to have much less effect if you want to go into the business world. A large percentage of Par-time MBA graduates end up in their original industry with similar functional roles.

我自己到没把mba放在很高的位置，可能是不是读的top，我觉得两年下来学到的是分析问题的思路和方法，具体还要靠以后的职业经历来加强。
我另外的目标是加强自己的soft skills，所以对我而言，中短期能做到senior的PM或BA都满足了。
精明能干 can probably be explained as street-smart, plus good personal skills?
I feel the same way about MBA, it should give you more job opportunity in business world than pure IT world. One classmate of mine, got his bechelor's in CS at Columbia University, then worked for Goldman Sachs for 5 years as developer, he was so frustrated after being a developer with no upper movement for 5 years that he went to MBA at Ann Arbor. After MBA, he went to do corporate finance at Intel.
I havent talked to him lately to see whether he is happy there, but I think if you still look for a project mgr position or acct mgr position after mba, your 2 years at b-school is a little wasted. And most program managers at companies like microsoft does not have mba, they were developers and testers who moved into that position.
我没有选finance的路，一是觉得自己不太合适，二是找工作时别人看得还是你mba以前的经历。
一个同学转行学finance，找工作时感觉面试都很难拿到。
我觉得毕业后能快点进入行业和角色还是很重要的，要不然真得很打击信心。

如果你有兴趣可以做six sigma black belt in IT industry.可以google一下.一般senior position都prefer MBA with IT background. 基本可以把你学到的东西都用到.
focus在IT company的话很容易找工作,都是非常大的公司.属于process improvement accoss organization.并不限制于IT department.包括HR, accounting, marketing team.跟人打交道.对经验很看重.如果是MSSBB.那就很牛啦.和和.
需要熟悉SDLF, 有analytical skills, interpersonal skills, 英语要非常好,经常要写东西,presentation.分析cost之类的.
