Sleep the child at an angle either by raising one end of the bed or propping the mattress. This will help the mucus run out of the nose. Use Nasal Saline drops to thin secretions. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that no antihistamines or decongestants be given to children under age of 6years. Use tylenol or Ibuprofen if your child has a fever, sore throat or muscle aches.
