if someone on the otherside talks too fast, and it is something you have to response... you better ask him/her to repeat.
Usually, stuff talked during a conference are things you familiar with. Either what you do or what you will do. People should prepare before enters a conference call so you don't get caught off guard. So far I haven't had any problem on the conference calls I go.
