Spanish flu was actually started here in the US, in the Kansas state area. It was called Spanish flu because at that time US troops were sent to Europe fighting the World War I. There US soldiers brought this virus to Europe and spread it over there. Since the pandemic was started in Europe, people named it Spanish flu. Later etiology study confirmed the flu was originated in the US.
