不是大牛蛙（T5随便申的那种），公校，UW4.0/W4.6，10-11年级（含暑假）Honor课2门，AP课4门，Community College暑假课3门，12年级AP课5门。学校里两个Clubs的小头头，校外没有leadership；Community Services时间100+小时。

终于熬过了UC系统，有什么漏的以后再补吧。

大学申请程序

大学申请程序的第一要义：一定要去大学官网上一条条看清楚，不仅是Undergraduate Admission的网页，如果需要申请到特定的学院和专业，该学院和专业的也要看，因为确实五花八门的要求很多，而且年年有不同。

然后说基本的。 

1.    大学申请的平台（College Application System）：大学申请主要有几个平台，包括common application，coalition application，一些州有自己的申请平台，比如加州UC，CSU，德州UT/CC（UT可以使用comm app或ApplyTexas）、纽约州（applySUNY）等。此外，MIT，Georgetown等大学用自己学校的平台，QuestBridge是针对低收入家庭的特殊平台。很多大学都可以任选common application或coalition application申请，用哪一个年年有些变化，以学校规定为准。

Common application，coalition application这些申请平台，要求学生在上面按各个大学的不同要求提交申请材料，然后大学再上去取这些资料。平台只是个收发室的功能，学生在submit申请之后，基本就和平台没关系了，所以大学录取后面的进程以及结果，都不是在这些平台上看的。在大学申请截止日之前，只要没有提交申请，学生一直可以登录平台对申请资料进行修改。

Comm app长这样：

先在Common App的tab下填通用的基础信息，然后按学校点开，会有更多的要求，问题(Questions)，推荐信（Recommenders and FERPA），有些学校的supplemental essays还会单列出来，绿勾表示都填全了（optional的不算）。提交申请Submit之后，“Review and Submit – Common App”那里才会出现绿勾。Common App里可以列10项Activies，包括Art/Music、Clubs、Volunteering、Sport等等。另外可以列5项荣誉/奖项（Honors）。

UC Application不详细写了，内容挺直接的。UC App里Activies/Awards合在一起可以列20项。

2.   申请文书

Comm App的文书（Essay），也就是常说的主文书，实际上是一篇7选1的Essay Prompt，就是学生针对下面七个题目之一的写作。由于有第7题，原则上写什么都可以。这些文书题目除了第4题是最近几年里（忘记具体哪年了）新出现的，其他都是比较久的题目。换言之，不会有太多变化，所以可以提前准备。第2题，据说是如果没有什么人生里较大的波折还是不要选了，当然这只是主观判断。

1.   Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.

2.   The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

3.   Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?

4.   Reflect on something that someone has done for you that has made you happy or thankful in a surprising way. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you?

5.   Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.

6.   Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?

7.   Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you''''ve already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design.

Comm App的主文书，一般认为是需要发挥创造力，展现一定的文学水平的，所以经常会看到各色各样的选题和发挥。除了主文书外，各大学会有自己独特的文书，大部分会有“why us”之类的问题。有些学校，如Stanford，Yale，USC等会有大大小小各种题目，字数要求大致在50-500词不等。

UC的文书是8选4，称为Personal Insight Questions（PIQs），包括：

1.   Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes or contributed to group efforts over time. 

2.   Every person has a creative side, and it can be expressed in many ways: problem solving, original and innovative thinking, and artistically, to name a few. Describe how you express your creative side.  

3.   What would you say is your greatest talent or skill? How have you developed and demonstrated that talent over time? 

4.   Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced.

5.   Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement?

6.   Think about an academic subject that inspires you. Describe how you have furthered this interest inside and/or outside of the classroom. 

7.   What have you done to make your school or your community a better place? 

8.   Beyond what has already been shared in your application, what do you believe makes you a strong candidate for admissions to the University of California?

UC对文书的要求基本是“平铺直叙“，在我们访校过程中有几个学校的招生官明确提到，所以就不用花太多心思”渲染气氛“了。和Comm App的第2题同理，第5个PIQ的”most significant challenge"慎选。

个人认为早点看看文书题目的好处，是仔细想想针对哪几个题目，有什么内容可写，以便在高中过程中重点强调或者进行补救。
