I assume the tooth with a single crown hurts when you bite. It can be either aching when the tooth hits opposite one or when it contacts cold liquid or food. If it is due to biting only, normally it is because the crown is too "high" and it contacts the opposite one before other teeth do. Occlusal adjustment is enough. If it is due to open margin which means the skirt area of the crown does not cover tooth structure seamlessly, tooth hurts when contacting cold. If this is the case a new crown is indicated. And another thing is reversible pulpitis that means the nerve is very sensitive to temperature and pain can be triggered by cold tolerable to healthy ones. Try drinking some iced water and go check if the pain on that tooth can be triggered and if yes how long the pain lasts after you spit out the cold water. The longer the worse.
