I was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo confused after watching this movie... Don't like it...

somebody explained that human blood contains some special gene,
so those aliens died after they drank the blood..... Doesn't make any
sense, ha





I don't understand why Tom's ex-wife and her family seems nobody
touched them at the end of the movie, and why they still could stay in her parents' house
during the war????
