MBA, to be or not to be?

我认得的MBA,全部是毕业了跑去wall street做IB的.这些人需要一些finance方面的知识,但是最重要的还是那些soft skills,跟人如何打交道,如何协调关系等.
在其它公司里面,升上去做管理的人,没什么是读了MBA才升上去的.基本上,如何能升职,如何能管理,这些能力,如果你现在没有,那么读了MBA也是不会有的.
MBA最要紧的是给你张进banking的资格证,还有给你个多认识人的机会.想真正靠它学习到如何升职,基本没希望.
这到不见得, 我眼见着这样的多了.
It really depends. If you have the potential then MBA will for sure help you with the advancement on your career. If you are just more suitable for techincal job, MBA degree won't get you to the managmenet level.
I would suggest spend the first 3-5 years and get to a certain management level. Then decide whether you need a MBA degree. IMO, MBA is different from CS master ,which you can learn all the new things and switch to a new field easily. MBA is better for those people who want to do business or business analysis, who are interested in those and who can excel doing it.
I've also seen a lot of MBA doing basic analysis work, without managing people at all. Don't mean that as a bad thingl. MBA still gets better pay compared to other master's degree. For a PH.D., the opportunity cost of pursuing a MBA is obviously higher so better not switch to it without careful thinking.
