Our dog chowed our carpet as well. I asked homedepot and they told me the best way is to replace the whole carpet. I patched that hole by myself useing tape and a small piece of carpet, however, it is quite obvious no matter how hard I tried. I think I'll replace the whole carpet eventrually.

It should be ok if you're worring about the deposite.

The apartment I used to live charged me a lot for things I don't remember ever done. Like "chemical burn on carpet", which I'm sure I never did!!!
I didn't pay deposit because it was promotioni, but they just charge me over $200, and bother me by a lot of ways until I paid. I still believe I didn't do anything wrong, but I have to pay because otherwise my credit will be demaged (they hired some company to bother me and warn me).
